Dale Averill brings a wealth of talent and experience to The Design Source team.  Dale began his racing graphics career more than 25 years ago as a teenager.  His love of auto racing fuels his creativity.  His understanding of the “image” of racing comes from years spent at the racetrack as a spotter and pit crew member.  His designs and illustrations have been showcased in Victory Lanes across the country.

Born into a naturally artistic family in Bangor, Maine, Dale’s talents were recognized at a very early age. Employed as sign painter during high school, Dale hand lettered race cars that ran at the local tracks around Maine.  His passion for racing continued after high school, when he started his career as a t-shirt designer for a screen-printing company.  In this role Dale designed shirts for teams that competed in the NASCAR Busch North, NASCAR Featherlite Modified Tour and the American-Canadian Touring Series.  Dale expanded his racing resume in 1989, when joined the race team of his long-time friend and fellow Maine native, Ricky Craven.  Dale created artwork for the former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver and served as a tire carrier on Craven’s American-Canadian Touring team.

In 1992, Dale moved to Concord, New Hampshire where he accepted a position as an Art Director for a screen printing company.  From 1994 to 1998, Dale was responsible for all of the event shirts for the New Hampshire International Speedway.  This period in his career was focused on apparel designs and illustration.  Dale proceeded to start his own design company where he did numerous shirt designs for many NASCAR drivers and did work on the Andretti Signature apparel line for Mario and Michael Andretti.

Dale decided to switch Concords in 2003, leaving New Hampshire to be closer to the action in Concord, North Carolina.  Dale took a job with a graphics company in the motorsports industry and continued his hands on involvement in the sport as spotter for 2002 & 2003 Busch North Series Champion Andy Santerre.  The NASCAR All-Star showdown event poster for 2003 was illustrated by Dale and was featured on the cover of the NASCAR Licensed Members magazine.
